The game begins with the player seated to the left of the dealer who makes a bet and then the rest of the players follow in a clockwise manner. After the bets are made, the dealer deals out four cads to each player; they are known as the player’s ‘pocket’ or ‘hole’ cards. The players should keep these cards hidden from the other players in the game. When composing their final hand which will consist of 5 cards, the players must use two of these cards; the players have to decide which of these two cards they will use with three other community cards.
After the first round of betting, the dealer deals out the first round of community cards, these cards are dealt face up. This round is known as the ‘Flop’ round and it exposes three of the cards. Again bets are made. At this point a player can choose not to call, or pay the bet and thus leave the game. Following this the fourth community card is viewed and after a round of betting, the last community card is shown in what is known as the ‘River’. After placing the last round of bets, the players have to show their hands and the player with the highest hand wins the game.
